The world
The deep quiet of the far north. The world slows, the sea turns deep blue, snow settles on the cliffs, and fires burn softly indoors while the northern lights move overhead. A season of depth: the sauna and the sea, fishing from the pier, the long warm table, and, as the light begins to return, the high snow opening to ski touring from sea to summit.
The shape of a day
A day held close to the firelight. Ski touring from sea to summit in the low light, or fishing from the pier and the quiet coast by kayak. Slow warming food from the deep wood-fired kitchen, the long warm table by candlelight. The sauna above the sea and a plunge into it as the day closes, snow underfoot. The northern lights watched from within and from the snow.
The gathering
The whole party drawn together at the long table by firelight, the lights overhead and the sauna and the snow just beyond the door: the still point of the year, held in the warm heart of a dark world.
