At 68° North, the year is measured in light. Spring returns across snow and open water as orcas move through Raftsundet with the herring. Summer stretches beneath the midnight sun – autumn brings amber hills and the first northern lights – winter settles into firelight, snow and deep Arctic quiet. Each turn of the year reveals a different island.
Around the Table
The day begins here and, more often than not, ends here too. Drawn from the day’s catch, coastal farms and the traditions of northern Norway, the cuisine reflects a landscape that has sustained life along these waters for generations. Remarkable ingredients are left recognisably themselves.
A Coastal Wilderness
Beyond the Island, Raftsundet opens into a coastal wilderness shaped by ancient sea routes, steep mountain ridges and the narrow waters of Trollfjorden. From here, the coastline is entered by boat, along island paths and from the bathhouse, where a stair descends into the sea. The wild north, lived in complete solitude.
